Blog EntryProblem Solved!Jul 1, '08 6:36 AM
for everyone
Thank God! My woes are over! After a month long battle (chicken!) with telecom companies, I now have a phone line and an internet connection courtesy of PLDT!
So far, my internet connection have been fast and efficient but I am online for only 6 hours or so hehe But what the heck, I am really, really happy. All I miss was our wi-fi connection with Globe but what the heck they can't give a proper DSL connection, so what's the use, right?

Blog EntryCurse of the Telecom Companies!Jun 28, '08 1:26 AM
for everyone
Oh no! After my dilemma with GLOBE DSL, our PLDT telephone line died on us! I can't really seem to understand how these could have happened to us simultaneously. Gosh! are we being attacked by telecom companies?
It has been four days since I reported to 173 (PLDT repair line). A technician went to our house yesterday and assured us that by 5pm will be having our dial tone as they have already fix the problem in the cabinet. And all PLDT has to do is to switch ON on their part and we will have our line back. So far, we still don't have a dial tone, no static, my phone is dead.
Missing a DSL is one thing but lacking a telephone line is a CURSE. *drama* My gulay!
I just hang up the phone. On the other line was a team leader, whom I insisted talking to. "I am friggin' mad" I told the CSR to tell his supervisor slash team leader. GRRR! As usual the supervisor assured me that she will personally follow it up and that our line will be repaired soon. I hope it will not be like my experience with GLOBE. Or I will have no choice at all...
I am thinking of applying a wireless telephone line, either bayatel or pldt. Will somebody care to share their experience  having wireless telephone with me?

Blog EntryMC DO GREENHILLS not PET FRIENDLY!Jun 27, '08 4:52 AM
for everyone
I was supposed to blog about this a long time ago but I guess it kept slipping out of  my mind because of the peste- GLOBE!
Anyway, every Sunday, I am on a jogging mood with my parents and on one of those instances, I am with my Precious, my Pom.
After many rounds, we opted to have a quick bite and entered MC DO. Upon entering, we come face to face with the manager who gave us a L-O-O-K. We proceeded and chose a table tucked in another room where it's almost deserted. My dad doggie sit the dog while mom and I went in line for our order. We were not yet near the counter when my dad come out from the room followed by a security guard and the manager. It turned out the manager asked the security guard to tell my dad that PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE.  If the manager have told us that this is not a pet friendly place OR EVEN PUT ON A SIGN OUTSIDE  we wouldn't have entered! My poor dog!!! We went to Tropical Hut instead.  Ang arte arte ng mc donald- duck!!

Blog EntryMore on GLOBE DSL!Jun 27, '08 2:04 AM
for everyone
Something magical- duh? happened yesterday! The guard told me that a Globe personnel was at the gate. As I approached the front door clutching the modem thinking that Globe sent the man to take it as previously agreed on when we went to its office last week. In front of my doorstep appeared a lineman from GLOBE DSL! The nerve... the poor guy showed me a  job order dated June 8.... hmmm what date was it yesterday? did they come from Mars hehe It must be confusing! The poor thang asked me if I had a connection already, I said hell NO! Could I try it now because they have been working on it?!? The desperate spirit in me went upstairs and started tinkering and setting up the line and modem but nothing happened. The ADSL kept on blinking instead of steady blink.

Blog EntryFeeling OLD?!Jun 23, '08 11:29 PM
for everyone
Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, surely I can't look that old. Well, you'll love this one.

I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his diploma, which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 30-odd years ago.

Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then?

Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, grey-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate. After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended DAV Sr Secondary, Chandigarh.

"Yes. Yes, I did," he gleamed with pride.

"When did you graduate?" I asked.

He answered, "In 1975.. Why do you ask?"

"You were in my class!", I exclaimed.

He looked at me closely. Then, that ugly, Old, Bald, Wrinkled, Fat ass, Grey-haired, Decrepit son-of-a-bitch asked: "What did you teach???"

Blog EntryNo Hope for Globe DSLJun 17, '08 5:48 AM
for everyone
For the third week, i am still here at my DH's office trying to blog about our #@% DSL connection! Still no connection at our house. I talked to a CSR yesterday and he was teling me that our barangay couldn't give them a permit and that one of their personnel was jailed but bailed out last week. I remember clearly that another CSR told me that they already secured a permit and it was their area head that secured it on  thursday last week. So how the heck that yesterday this particular CSR was telling that the barangay was not issuing one. I even ask the CSR on what grounds was the technician locked in prison... answer... tatarantaran... trespassing. I sarcastically told him, "in your own property?" and he answered "YES!" This time this CSR wanted me to go and ask for the permit from the barangay myself, what a bull #@! to help them in their problem. It's their problem and I'm stressing myself and paying them. I can't believe how these people can not connect and correlate themselves with their technicians. I have already talked to two of their supervisors and what did they do.... NOTHING! As and added insult to the injury, they have sent me a bill! The NERVE!!!! pweh!

Blog EntryGLobe DSL sucks, BIG TIME!Jun 14, '08 2:12 AM
for everyone
It's been almost two weeks and each day i call twice or thrice in their hotline. I'm having a really hard time with their service and their customer service representative (CSR). Globe is very inefficient. Their technical support and their CSR does not correlate their findings and thus when I call each CSR gave me a different status of my trouble report. I even spoke to their team leader who told me she will do everything in her power to get me a connection but that was days ago. A tech support called me that their technician will be coming by last Wednesday i think, I waited to no avail. HMMMP GRRRRRRR
The last time I talked to them, they told me about a barangay permit they have to secure to be able to got to their cable cabinet for the repair. That was Wednesday night and the CSR told me that the next day, tech people will be working on our cabinet but surprise, surprise... i'm now in DH office and still no connection at home.
Anybody has the same experience as mine? GRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Blog EntryGlobe DSL sucks!Jun 6, '08 12:53 AM
for everyone
Every month since we started subscribing to Globe DSL- we switched from Bayan DSL-  last August 2007. We haven't had a single month with perfect, yes, i mean 30 days full connection. At least 1 week of the month, I will have disconnections. Or worse, twice a month, I have to complain to their CS for intermittent disconnections.
June month started with no connection since June 4. When I call their 919-8888 CS landline to complain, either they drop my call or I have to endlessly wait and listen to their fucking song that repeat over and over again as if testing your patient to wait for someone in their customer service to answer. And when a CS answer my call, they would let me wait for another 5 minutes to check on my account, as if I have not waited enough grrrrr.  When she gets back to me, the report that I am following up last month have cropped up and she tells me that a report for last month (May) have not yet been closed and that they are still working it out. I explain to her that they have already restored connection last May and this June is a NEW problem. The CS then tell me that my connection will be restored the soonest time possible. How soon, I ask. CS can't give a definite time frame. What the #@#  I am a paying customer here. CS would then answer, they will just rebate the service not delivered. Hello..... for every month that I complained for service interruption, I only got twice (?) rebate amounting to PhP 20 pesos not even pro rated for one day and not even enough for the headache that their connection gives me. I don't care about their rebates. I want service satisfaction that seems they cannot do. Terrible! I can't wait for their lock- in period to come to an end. any feedback on PLDT DSL Q.C. area?

May your troubles be less,
May your blessings be more,
May nothing but happiness come through your door!

Blog EntrySiem Reap, Cambodia- My review and itineraryFeb 9, '08 3:07 AM
for everyone
January 24- Day 1
From Manila to Ho chi Minh (via Philippine Airlines) to Siem Reap (via Vietnam Air)
After almost a waiting time of 6 1/2 hour at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC, Vietnam), we had a short 45 minute plane ride to Siem Reap International Airport.
The immigration process is fast as it took us less than 15 minutes to get out of the airport if I am not mistaken. No visa required for Filipino Passport.

1. Picked up by the driver contacted by the hotel and is included in our hotel package. Driver's name is Ponlue surname is Tes. He drives a green Toyota Camry. Most of the cars for hire are Camry and is colored green too!

2. In less than 15 minutes, we arrived at our hotel, Angkor Holiday Hotel- http://www.angkorholidayhotel.com, we got a 169USD package. Includes, as copied from their website, comments inside parenthesis:
For my take on the photo of the hotel, please go to:
* free transfers to and from airport
* refreshment of you choice upon arrival from our extensive cocktail menu (iced tea was served- you don't have a choice!)
* complimentary bottle of champagne (it sucks!)
* Free basket of assorted tropical fruits
* 2 night accommodation in our deluxe room (we were upgraded to a suite room for FREE!)
* Free laundry 2kg per day (Free kg/day can be combined in one laundry)
* complimentary one hour massage (masseuse were not professionals as they kept laughing and talking to each other in their native tongue. I find it very rude!)
* complimentary set menu dinner for two at Pavillion restaurant (Plenty of food for both of us, unlimited serving of rice! Plus, attentive waiters.)
* Daily breakfast Buffet
* PLUS one night FREE!

3. After checking in, the driver Ponlue discussed to us that there is an ADDTIONAL fee of 10 USD for the viewing of sunrise which we agreed to, later, I found out nobody pays for it and it should be included in our 25 USD/day fee of driver plus car! So beware of this driver which is recommended by Mr. Sopheap of Angkor Holiday Hotel. I still haven't inform the hotel management about the driver overcharging us. We agreed that he will be picking us up at the hotel around 4:30am which I later found out to be too early as the sun rises around 6am- 6:30am. And the travel time from hotel to the ticket gate is just 6 minutes away! I will soon be doing a separate review of the hotel.

4. After freshening up, we cross the side street to have a pre-arranged Apsara show with Koulen II restaurant also by Mr. Sopheap of Angkor Holiday Hotel. We were seated at the center aisle which is a good seat as you are not so far and not so near. The overall show was ok. The were a few good selection of food. More pictures on:

January 25- Day 2

Picture of the so called sunrise teehee

1. Arrived at the Angkor gate around 4:54am and was able to buy the 20USD ticket, good for one day tour, very fast as there were nobody else in line. The tickets being issued has your picture in it- picture taken at the booth. Please secure your ticket as it is always presented at the entrance of each temples.

2. We postioned ourselves at the left side corner of the man made lake (is that what you call it?) to get the Angkor temple together with its reflection in the water to make it picture perfect! Being on the far left also separates you from the crowd gathered at the center. Too bad it's been cloudy that day so no sunrise was seen. And rain started pouring as we left around 7am to have our breakfast at our hotel. But for others who doesn't want to go back, many kids are offering breakfast (coffee and other food) and also chairs for a fee. I never ask how much because I was comfortable sitting on the rocks.

3. We were met by our guide, who profusely said sorry to us as he was unable to accompany us during sunrise as he has to go with his wife everday to the market, around 8am. I forgot his name, i will post it as soon as I remember it hehe We went back to see
*Prasat Bei
*South gate of Angkor Thom
*Central Angkor Thom- Bayon, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, Terrace of Elephant and Leper King

4. We had lunch at Angkor Reach just near the gate of Angkor although we requested at a restaurant near the Terraces , the guide told us the food is not clean. We later found out that the restaurant where he took us, the driver and guide eats for only 1USD each whatever their choice is from the menu. We ordered Fried rice Pork Spice- 3.50USD, Chicken Curry- 4.25USD, extra rice- 0.50USD, 1500ml of water 1.50USD.

5. Around 1pm, the guide told us that we will not be able to see Victory Gate, Thommanon and Takeo due to time constraint. I think he wants to be able to finish the tour, what a lousy guy! Fortunaly the weather became better! So you can really appreciate the work of art by the Cambodians!

* Ta Prohm- my favorite of all for so much artwork!

* Angkor Wat for sunset which we didn't capture.
We really wanted to go to Phnom Bakheng for sunset but the guide told us that it will take       4km long walk up the hill... I don't know if it's true? Anybody can comment?

6. We had a complimentary dinner at the hotel.
Soup, appetizer, 3 main courses, rice, dessert coffee or tea. As drinks were not included, we ordered a 500ml water for a dollar and a coke for 1.50 USD plus 10% tax.

7. Before we had dinner, we checked out their massage area which is at the adjacent building of Angkor Holiday Hotel. A shortcut going there is by taking the way to the swimming pool so you don't have to get out of the hotel's premises. But you have the option to have your massage inside your room which is what we availed, seeing that there is just a cramped space in their spa area.
The masseuse were on time- 9pm. Although as I've written, they were so talkative and wouldn't stop talking while massaging us. I hated it. I even asked them what's wrong and they apologized.
In the end, we still gave them a dollar tip each.

January 26- Day 3
1. After breakfast at the hotel, we asked from the hotel how much for a tuktuk ride to Artisan D' Angkor and Silk Farm and back, the front desk quoted 15 USD. We didn't take it. We went just outside the hotel and bargained with a tuktuk driver, KIN, for 9USD. The driver has to take us to Silk farm, Artisan D' Angkor and Old Market and pick us up around 5pm.

2. It is around 9 am when we started travelling to the Silk Farm. It took us around 20 minute tuktok ride to Silk farm- around 15km. The tour was very informative. After the tour, there was shop and I was able to buy a fine silk scarf for 39USD. We alloted an hour for the tour.

3. Angkor Artisan is close to the Old Market so the ride was around 30 minutes. So it was almost lunch when we arrived. Most of the sculptors were already having their break. But the shop still accepted us and gave us a tour. This time the tour was shorter so in 30 minutes or so we were done already. But our tuktuk driver was nowhere in sight. We waited for almost 30minutes and he arrives at exactly 1pm. Turns out he had taken his lunch.
Here's my take on Angkor Artisan http://mrsmartinez.multiply.com/photos/album/106

4. We told him to take us to Pub street for lunch. He left us and agreed to pick us up around 5pm. All the restaurants are not airconditioned. We took the Pub Street Alley, a new place where new restaurants are sprouting! And settle for Amok Restaurant- amok@angkorw.com. It is located at the opposite of Traditional Khmer Food. We ordered Mango salad- 3.50 USD, Spring Rolls- 3.50 USD, Amok 5 flavors- 7.25USD, a bottle of coke for a dollar.

5. We went to the Old Market and found raw silk as low as 5 USD. Some fine silk at 3 USD each. Let the saleslady test their silk if its real, if it is, it doesn't burn easily. The first one I bought was a mixed of silk and cotton and when you test it, burns rather very easy. So I got fooled on the first which I bought also for 3USD, good thing I bought only one. Some tip, buy in stores that sell rolls of cloth, the silk is cheaper and the saleslady is more honest. Silk price vary depending on quality, hand or machine made- has its edges sewn, lenght and width. The heat is bearable inside, as usual, it is not airconditioned.

6. We had a bubble juice at Bubble T Restaurant, We had ice cream at Blue Pumpkin. Finished everything around 4pm but have to wait for the driver until around 5pm at our meeting palce, the Red Piano restaurant.

7. For our dinner, we headed to Dead Fish Tower, a unique concept restaurant. It has three to four levels and tables are so low, you have to seat on the floor although they have normal table and chairs available too! Food was great plus they have a free Apsara show although not as grand as Koulen II, it has only 3 dancers who dances alternately on its small ledge.

8. We went to Angkor Night Market and we were disappointed as there were many mosquitoes, the floor was not paved, small stones were placed and it was very hard to walk, and goods sold were not cheap so we left and bought nothing!

9. Went back to Pub St., had an oil body massage in Dr. Feet for 7USD and called it a night! BTW, it cost us only a dollar one way from our hotel to the Pub St.

January 27- Day 4
1. After breakfast, went straight to the Old Market. Most of the shop are just opening. We wanted to find a Buddha Wood Carving. Most were made of rubber wood and were very light. Finally we found a shop selling purely wood carvings near the entrance of the market and we haggle with the sales person and bought a Buddha for only 30 USD, we started with 45USD.

2. Checked out but had slight problem as hotel is charging us with the free massage but was soon resolved. Same car driver took us to the airport. The last car which has the driver seated on the right side was sold (5, 700USD)as we were told and he was driving a new Camry (5, 600USD), same color but this time , the driver was seated on the left side.

3. We ate at one of the restaurants at the airport. Reminding you to pay 25 USD for airport tax. we had fun! Enjoy and hope you have a nice trip report too!
I hope this helps.

January 27- Day 1- 3 pm

1. Changed money at airport, only 10 USD= 160, 000 dong
2. Had a verbal argument with Petrolimex taxi, charging us with an extra 5, 000 dong on top of our arranged fare of 80, 000 dong or the toll fee. We ended up paying the additional 5, 000 dong.
3. Check in at Elios Hotel- http://www.elioshotel.vn/
4. After freshening up, went down and as for directions to Sinh Cafe- www.sinhcafevn.com , Turned out to be just around the corner of the hotel. Book a tour of cuchi tunnel in the morning 8am and half day city tour starts at 2pm until 5pm. All for 8 USD per pax. Tour costs includes airconditioned bus, english speaking guide, mineral water, and nuts. Changed some more USD with Sinh Cafe.
5. Ate dinner at Pho 24 along Ben Than Market. They charged you for those wet tissues (1, 000- 2, 000 dong!) that they serve!
5. Go back to the hotel to take the much needed rest!

January 28- Day 2- 5:30 am

1. Got up early, waited until 6:30am for the breakfast buffet.
2. Went to Sinh Cafe at around 7:30am, we were told to wait as other tour group boarded the bus. We were told that our bus will start boarding around 8 am and leaves at exactly 8:15am for the 2 hour or so drive to Cuchi Tunnel! Experience was ok. We have to pay an additional 70, 000 dong per pax entrance fee- not included on the tour fee. We tried going inside the tunnel. Unbearable heat and lack of breath greeted us face front. After the experience, we were treated with camote dipped in nuts with sugar- (please correct me if I'm wrong! As I don't know what it is called.) and tea. Around 11 am or so, we were called to go back to head on to the bus. Only to be called back again to alight the bus (turned out only 6 of us in the group booked for the afternoon half day city tour). We boarded a van, not a bus, and found two more tourists waiting. The air con was not working well. Along with the fact that the front passenger hoarded the air con all for themselves. We were sweating at the back seat. We were so happy to get back at Sinh Cafe around 1pm. We grab a quick lunch at Lotteria Chicken- their local Mc Donald's. Mc Donald's is nowhere to be found. KFC has branches in HCMC. Then at exactly 2pm, the bus went off to Independence Palace- 15, 000 dong per pax entrance fee, Notre dame Cathedral, General Post Office, War Remnants Museum-
15, 000 dong entrance fee. Back to Sinh Cafe by 5pm.
My only comment with the places we visited are all not airconditioned. So heat works the hell on you.
3. For dinner, we took a Mailinh taxicab (flagdown rate: 15, 000 dong, Vinasun taxi has a cheaper flagdown rate a 12, 000 dong) to Dong Khoi area approximate 12, 000 to 15, 000 dong from Pham Ngu Lao st. We walked towards Ton Duc Thang and have a taste of dinner cruise. We chose Ben Nghe tourist ship restaurant because it was almost full already compared to other ships beside it. Luckily, we were there around 8pm and didn't wait too long for the ship to sail. We had sweet and sour fish and calamares. When we asked for the bill, many items were charged on our account including hot and cold towels and nuts that were served. The cruise costs separately at 15, 000 dong per pax as opposed to the first ship that we ask at 10, 000 per pax. The cruise didn't offer a good view as there was no scenery to view. What a day!

January 29- Day 3- 8 am

1. Woke up a bit late as there was nothing set on my itinerary.
2. Grab a breakfast at the 12th floor of Elios. Incidentally, you have to use the stairs from 11th to 12th floor.
3. We went to see Dong Khoi area in the morning. Most shops are still closed. We enter different malls and finally settled in Parkson Mall to have lunch.
4. We continued strolling until we passed by Riverside Hotel and beside it is a spa called Ngoc An.
5. After which, Fanny Ice Cream was our next stop.
6. We met a friend, Agnes, who works as a doctor at a clinic near Diamond Plaza and lead us to Quan An Ngon restaurant located at Nam Ky Khoi Nghia st. District 1 for dinner where many tourists and locals flock the place. The place was jam packed when we arrived. Fortunately, we got a table ahead because we were only three pax. We had sumptuous dinner for the price that is so cheap. We had a good time there.
7. We went back to Dong Khoi area and see the rooftop of different hotels like Caravelle, Rex, Sheraton and Majestic.

January 30- Day 4- 6:30am

1. Woke up pretty early we have some serious shopping to do.
2. After breakfast, hailed a cab to Tran Phu St. in district 3 to purchase paintings. Separate review on my page.
3. Went back to Pasteur Road in District 1 to look for Ipa-nima shop! I bought a cool bag- http://www.ipanima.com/
4. Quick lunch at Lotteria and head to the airport!

Christmas '07!
As early as November, I have already put up my Christmas tree. It marked the beginning of Christmas for me and every year, I am very excited! Coffee, our new puppy shitzu, was too naughty running around the christmas balls and other decorations that I had him locked in our kitchen. Good thing this year my pet Precious was behaved enough and stayed in my bedroom the entire time.
December 16th, marked the 1st day of my 9 day novena at Mt. Carmel. I've been doing this for almost 7-8 years already. With too much partying this year, good thing Mary the Queen in Greenhills offered an 8pm mass starting on the 15th, I was able to go for total of 3 night in Greenhills. Waking up for the 4:30 am makes me feel sleepy all day. My good friend Cathleen gave me a ride to and from the church and on some days, we had breakfast together. Tonight, I just finished my nine day novena and I felt blessed to be able to complete it.
Yesterday, my family and I went to EDSA Shangri- la for lunch and at El Pueblo for dinner. we had so much fun taking pictures of each other and with Santa at the lobby. Today, I am so happy because Wilson and I had a lunch date in Sonya's garden. More picture taking followed right after!
As I am writing this tonight, I am waiting for the clock to strike 12 so that our nephews and nieces can open their gifts.
This year, I am very thankful for all the blessings that we have received. And hopefully the coming new year will be a fruitful one too!

Blog Entry3 minute management course!Dec 5, '07 9:03 AM
for everyone
I want to share to you a thing or two i've learned from this forwarded email:

Lesson 1:

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her
shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a
towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands
Bob, the next-door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll
give you $800 to drop that towel."

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands
naked In front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and
leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.
When she Gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?"

"It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies.
"Great!" the husband says, "did he say anything about the $800 he
owes
me?"

Moral of the story:

If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with
Your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent
avoidable
exposure.

Lesson 2:

A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs,
forcing Her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an
accident. After Controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up
her leg. The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?"

The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand
slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "Father, remember
Psalm 129?"

The priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak."

Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at
the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go
forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

Moral of the story:

If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great
opportunity.

Lesson 3:

A sales rep, administration clerk, and the manager are walking to
lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie
comes out. The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the administration clerk. "I want to be
in the Bahamas , driving a speedboat, without a care in the world."
Puff! She's gone.

"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii,
relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply
of Pina Coladas and the love of my life." Puff! He's gone.

"OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager.

The manager says, "I want those two turkeys back in the office after
lunch."

Moral of the story:

Always let your boss have the first say.

Lesson 4:

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small
rabbit Saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do
nothing?"

The eagle answered: "Sure, why not."

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a
sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story:

To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high
up.

Lesson 5:

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get
to The top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the
energy."

"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the
bull. "They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him
Enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next
day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.
Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the
top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him
out of the tree.

Moral of the story:

Bullsh*t might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson 6:

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the
bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was
lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the
frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize
how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there
all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.
Following The sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of
cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story:

(1) Not everyone who sh*ts on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of sh*t is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep sh*t, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

This ends the 3-minute management course.

Blog Entryleft or right brain?Oct 23, '07 8:33 AM
for everyone

Take a careful look on the image. If you notice that the girl is spinning clockwise, you have a dominant right brain. If you see the girl spinning counterclockwise, you have a dominant left brain.

Some people do see both ways, but most people see it only one way. If you try to see it the other way and if you do see, your IQ is above 160 which is almost a genius. This is not a joke. both directions can be seen.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

Blog Entryviews on aging!Aug 15, '07 10:34 PM
for everyone

George Carlin's Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key!!

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back.

You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gon na be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . . you BECOME 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, youREACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE IT to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE IT to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN
4:30 ; you REACH bedtime and it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"

May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!
HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age , weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them."

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.

Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health : If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9 Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but
NOT to where the guilt is.

10.
Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
